Be a warrior not a worrier

Wellness

I hope you all have had productive weeks and you’re ready to end this one on a very high note! I can’t tell you how much I needed this week’s PositiviTea quote of the day! Just know I really, really, really did! So I’m not going to waste any more time. Let me get into this and try to help us both this week!

Story time! Growing up, I was always a worrier. I would stress myself all the way with think about thinks that were happening later in the day, the next day, and even next month! I would stress so bad, that I had anxiety attacks that would impact my healthy on sometimes a bi weekly basis. I would worry about things that I couldn’t even control. It almost always had to do with how someone was going to react to what I did or said. Which as we all know, we can’t control that! But I did it any way, and I ruined a lot of relationships with friends and partners because of that. If I couldn’t see how a situation would turn out, I would stress about it, and then determine in my mind how it would turn out that way. That caused me to jump to conclusions in my head that were almost never true but ultimately ended up hurting myself or someone else in the end.

I don’t know if you have any experience with that, but let me tell you it’s not good. That energy that I was spending on worrying about things that might or might not happen could have been spent doing something that I could control. I could have spent that energy hanging out with friends and distracting myself. I could have spent that energy talking to someone (professional or not) that could help was my mind. I could have been doing literally anything else but worrying. So I decided to make a change.

This was not easy! Trying to not thinking of something when it’s all you can think about is the worst! I couldn’t do it on my own which is why I starting talking to someone. They helped me identify the real anxiety and made me start realizing that I can’t control everything or everyone. Not should i want to! When I very slowly started to realize this, I also saw my anxiety get smaller and smaller. Do I still get anxiety today? Hell yes! But do I spend all of my energy on things I have no control over? Hell no! I won’t allow myself to sink like that, and you shouldn’t either!

So my challenge to you today is to do just like the quote says! Be a warrior, not a worrier. If you have no control over it, don’t let it stress you out! My dad used to tell me when I was younger, “you’re too blessed to be stressed.” I didn’t understand it when I was younger but I definitely do now. So go out there, be a warrior, and don’t forget to spread a little PositiviTea!

Stress doesn’t kill you, your reaction does

I hope that you all are having a productive week and are ready to end the week on a high note! It’s hard to believe that March is over, but here we are, waiting on Spring to come and bless us with the beautiful weather.

Stress! Am I right? It seems like the older I get, the more often I hear myself wanting to say how stressed I am. I know that I’m not alone in thinking this way. CBS News reported, “An estimated 8.3 million American adults — about 3.4 percent of the U.S. population — suffer from serious psychological distress..” That’s a lot of people in this country that are dealing with something serious, and probably not getting help. We all deal with stress in our own way. Some people use drugs and alcohol to try to forget about what is causing the stress. Some of us talk to friends/partner about it. Some people try to ignore it, and push it down real deep until it blows up into something bigger causing a world of anxiety.

The biggest rivals of the Baltimore Ravens

Every fan of the Baltimore Ravens football team knows that this team has a lot of rivals! That didn't come by chance. It came because the Ravens play with a lot of heart and that often brings out the in other teams. Over the years some teams have tried to take a stab at the team to bring them down but only a few can really compete. Here are the true rival teams of the Ravens.

Life is too short

I hope you’re having a good day so far and that you’re ready to have an even better weekend. I can’t go any further in this post without acknowledging the tragedy that occurred on Sunday. One of the greatest basketball players in the world, Kobe Bryant, his oldest daughter Gianna, and 7 others died in a helicopter crash in California. This news has impacted so many people, not just because of who was involved, but also because it’s makes everyone realize how short life is. So what better way to remember the Black Mamba and hopefully do what I can to cheer those up that are feeling sad, than to use one of his quotes for this week’s PositiviTea?

Motivation. You have to do it daily.

I hope you all are having a great day so far. It’s the week of love, and I hope that you are feeling loved by your family and friends. It’s also the week that has been mostly rain in the DC area, so I definitely encourage you all to enjoy the sunshine wherever you are if you have it. But speaking of sunshine, I am here to bring a little bit of sunshine to you in the form of this week’s PositiviTea post.

I saw this quote and I just couldn’t wait to write this week’s post. I hear a variation of this all the time, especially from people that can’t believe someone can be positive if not all the time, at least majority of the time. There are lots of situations that come up that may make it easier to be pessimistic instead of optimistic. Those situations could be anything from you lost your job to falling on the ground walking into work and spilling coffee on your favorite shirt. There’s literally just about anything that could make you want to frown and not smile. But just like the quote says, “That’s why we recommend it daily.” It’s that simple!

If you ever thought about why you don’t have body odor, I may have an answer for you. Maybe, just maybe, it’s because you wash yourself every day, removing the old funk and smelling brand new. Think of being positive and being motivated as the same way. Every day you have to say an affirmation, or have the same positive outlook on life in order for it to work. It’s not a one-time mindset or saying. You have to continue to surround yourself with positivity every day like your life depends on it, and that’s because it does. The moment you stop being positive, you could slip into a downward spiral that is hard to come out of.

So as I always do, I’m going to challenge you to say one positive thing a day. See if it doesn’t keep you mood up consistently. Have a great day! Happy Valentine’s Day, and don’t forget to spread some PositiviTea.
