I hope you all have had productive weeks and you’re ready to end this one on a very high note! I can’t tell you how much I needed this week’s PositiviTea quote of the day! Just know I really, really, really did! So I’m not going to waste any more time. Let me get into this and try to help us both this week!

Story time! Growing up, I was always a worrier. I would stress myself all the way with think about thinks that were happening later in the day, the next day, and even next month! I would stress so bad, that I had anxiety attacks that would impact my healthy on sometimes a bi weekly basis. I would worry about things that I couldn’t even control. It almost always had to do with how someone was going to react to what I did or said. Which as we all know, we can’t control that! But I did it any way, and I ruined a lot of relationships with friends and partners because of that. If I couldn’t see how a situation would turn out, I would stress about it, and then determine in my mind how it would turn out that way. That caused me to jump to conclusions in my head that were almost never true but ultimately ended up hurting myself or someone else in the end.

I hope you all are having a great day so far. It’s the week of love, and I hope that you are feeling loved by your family and friends. It’s also the week that has been mostly rain in the DC area, so I definitely encourage you all to enjoy the sunshine wherever you are if you have it. But speaking of sunshine, I am here to bring a little bit of sunshine to you in the form of this week’s PositiviTea post.

I saw this quote and I just couldn’t wait to write this week’s post. I hear a variation of this all the time, especially from people that can’t believe someone can be positive if not all the time, at least majority of the time. There are lots of situations that come up that may make it easier to be pessimistic instead of optimistic. Those situations could be anything from you lost your job to falling on the ground walking into work and spilling coffee on your favorite shirt. There’s literally just about anything that could make you want to frown and not smile. But just like the quote says, “That’s why we recommend it daily.” It’s that simple!

If you ever thought about why you don’t have body odor, I may have an answer for you. Maybe, just maybe, it’s because you wash yourself every day, removing the old funk and smelling brand new. Think of being positive and being motivated as the same way. Every day you have to say an affirmation, or have the same positive outlook on life in order for it to work. It’s not a one-time mindset or saying. You have to continue to surround yourself with positivity every day like your life depends on it, and that’s because it does. The moment you stop being positive, you could slip into a downward spiral that is hard to come out of.

So as I always do, I’m going to challenge you to say one positive thing a day. See if it doesn’t keep you mood up consistently. Have a great day! Happy Valentine’s Day, and don’t forget to spread some PositiviTea.

Happy Hump Day you beautiful people. We are almost done with what seems like the longest year this week. I hope that you all have been doing some self care and are trying to stay positive during these times. It seems as though myself and other black people are fighting for our lives, fighting for justice, and just like always, fighting for change. However, we can’t continue to be the only ones fighting. We need for others to stand up and recognize their part in this movement.

I chose this quote by President Barack Obama because I feel like we need it more than ever. African Americans have been waiting for change to come since we were stolen from our homes and brought to America to be slaves for white people. African Americans have been waiting for change since we were told that we were only 3/5 of a person. African Americans have been waiting for change since they told us that we didn’t belong in the same schools, restaurants, churches, or even relationships with white people. African Americans have been waiting for change since they started removing our fathers from our homes and putting them in prison. African Americans have been waiting for change since they started labeling any black woman that spoke her mind as the “angry black woman.” African Americans have been waiting for change since they started killing us and we have to live with the killers still free.

African Americans have been waiting for change since they started killing us and we have to live with the killers still free.

African Americans have been waiting for change since they started killing us and we have to live with the killers still free.

African Americans have been waiting for change since they started killing us and we have to live with the killers still free.

But the change that we’ve been waiting on still has not come. The change we deserve to see depends on the non-black people in America to stand with us and say, “Enough is enough.” We need to break this cycle of racism, discrimination, and MURDER in America. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Justice delayed is justice denied.” When I see the family of Breonna Taylor who was murdered in my hometown of Louisville KY, still waiting over two months to see her killers arrested, I don’t see justice. When I saw only one cop that was involved in the murder of George Floyd get arrested for murder before the other 3, I don’t see justice. When I see the families of the numerous other victims like Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Mike Brown, and Sandra Bland, Breonna Taylor still awaiting justice, I, don’t, see, justice. And you shouldn’t either.

So let's say their names again, so we don't forget

Good morning beautiful people! I hope you all had a great weekend and you were able to have some fun on this common last holiday weekend! It’s a short work week for all my 9-5 people so I hope this PositiviTea quote of the day will give you that extra push you need to get to Friday! So let’s jump right into it!

I can’t even begin to tell how many opportunities I’ve had come my way even when I didn’t have the talent or experience that they were looking for. It’s definitely somewhere in the double digits. Either the person looking saw my desire and hustle, or I sold them on my hustle desire by proving that I would always give over 100%. Many people go through life thinking that because they don’t have the talent required, that people are not going to give them a chance. They can’t be further from the truth!

If you walk into an interview for a job that you know you may not qualify 100% for, you have to prove to them why you still deserve that job! Do you have other skills that they may not have listed that you could still apply or make the role better? Are you open to training and studying outside of work hours so that you’ll be able to keep up with your more experienced coworkers? Basically, can you show them in actions that you have a desire and hustle to work hard and above average? If they answer is yes, your interviewer will see that and you will for sure get the job.

But what you can’t do, is lack talent and not have a drive. People aren’t just going to give you a chance because you really, really, really want the job. That may happen in the movies. However, in real life, that rarely happens. If you know you aren’t qualified, do what you can to get qualified. Or prove why your other qualifications still make you a good fit. So my challenge to you this week , is if you’re on the hunt for new opportunities and you see something that you may not 100% qualify for, write a list of all the ways you could still be a candidate. If you see that you could still make a good candidate, take a chance and apply, send your resume, or make that call. You have it in you to be the best! I hope you have a great day and don’t forget to spread a little PositiviTea!
